Paolo Rovesti obtained a degree in Chemistry and
Pharmacy from the University of Genoa in 1925. After the technical
management of several chemical, pharmaceutical and essence industries
he moved on to the Society of African Ventures and the Company of
Ethiopian Flora, and finally to alimentary extractive firms.
Founder of the Research Institute on Plant Derivatives,
and author of over 500 publications dealing with experiments on
phytochemistry, essential oils, medicinal plants and functional
cosmetics.
Honorary President of the International Committee
of Esthetics and Cosmetics of the Italian Society of Cosmetic Chemists
(which he founded) and of The Technical Group of the Italian Pharmacists,
Member of the Italian Academy of Sanitary Art History of Rome, of
the Dermatology Academy of Paris, and numerous other scientific
associations both italian and foreign.
Moreover he was President of the National Center
of Herboristery and the Technical Committee of the Cosmetic Industries
and head of the National Association for the Chemical Industries
of Lombardia.
He is widely known as the father of Phytocosmetics.
Even now, several years after his death in 1983, Prof. Paolo Rovesti
is still an important reference, from both a human and scientific
point of view, in the academic and industrial world. |
