GUIDO ROVESTI

The Rovesti’s family vocation in chemistry started with grandfather Guido, born in Reggio Emilia in 1877, graduating from University with a degree in Chemistry and Pharmacy. After some years as a businessman in the food preserves sector, he concentrated on carrying out research in the same sector and in that of essential oils.

Professor of the Ecole Professionnelle des Industries Alimentaires of Paris, Member of the Board of Scientific Experts of the Ecole Internationale de l'Agriculture of Paris, and Honorary Member of the Real Sociedad Espanola de Fisica y Quimica of Madrid, are just some of the prestigious positions earned and held during a brilliant scientific career by this scholar of international fame.

Guido Rovesti also ran the review "Rivista italiana Essenze, Oli, Profumi" for over twenty years, and was the author of many publications in the field of essential oils and active plant ingredients.

Together with his son Paolo, he founded the Research Institute on Plant Derivatives.

Under the presidency of Guglielmo Marconi he was a member of the C.N.R. (National Research Council), in the Agricultural sector. Until the time of his death in 1946, he continued to work with the Ministry of Agriculture, in particular in the area of officinal plants.
